Origin

The Chiefland Budwood Facility (2010) provided the following notes on the cultivar (clone DPI-111): "Oroblanco is a hybrid of 2N acidless pummelo and 4N seedy white grapefruit developed at the University of California....Known as "sweetie." in some countries. Season: Dec-February"

Description

Crown compact or dense, not weeping. First-year twig surface pubescent; second- or third-year twig surface striate; thorns straight; prickles absent or not persistent. Petiole pubescent, length long or very long; wings medium or wide, adjoining the blade or tucking beneath blade. Leaflets one, margins crenate/crenulate or bluntly toothed, shade leaflet blades flat or weakly conduplicate, sun leaflet blades flat or weakly conduplicate. Scent of crushed leaflets sweetly orange-like. Fruit broader than long,as broad as long, or longer than broad; rind green-yellow (6), yellow (7-10), or yellow-orange (11); rind texture slightly rough (4-5); firmness leathery; navel absent; flesh red/purplish-tinged or yellow; taste grapefruit-like.

The Chiefland Budwood Facility (2010) provided the following additional notes on the cultivar (clone DPI-111): "Larger in size than grapefruit with fewer seed than pummelos The rind is thicker than grapefruit and greenish in color. The fruit is sweet and lacks grapefruit bitterness."
